It looks as though I will not be able to get the CCHA press release
in electronic form to mail to HOCKEY-L any more. I haven't given up yet,
but for now you'll have to settle for my hastily-typed notes from this
week's release. More later.

PLAYER NOTES
Angelo Libertucci (BG), Craig Lisko (FSU), Steve Shields (UM), Jeff
Featherstone (UIC) and Tom Askey (OSU) all lead the league with zero
GAA and a 1.000 save %. None of the 13 goalies who saw action in the
first weekend played more than 45 minutes.
 
UM's David Oliver & Brian Wiseman and UIC's Cory Hextall & Matt Brenner
lead in scoring with 4 pts each. 59 players have recorded at least a
point.
 
TEAM NOTES
BGSU...opens 22nd year in CCHA...only school to be in league for all 22
years...opened league season at Soo in 90-1, too...two wins shy of
300 in CCHA play
 
FSU...have new head coach for second time in last 3 years
 
UIC...Friday's win was first season opening W since 88-9
 
KSU...host other league newcomer, Notre Dame
 
LSSU...ex-Laker Darrin Madeley stopped 73/77 and went 1-0-1 for New
Haven (AHL, Ottawa) lately
 
MU...add #16 Chad McShane (C) and #26 Bill Gumport (C) to roster
 
UM...David Oliver, top returning Blue scorer, netted 4 vs. UND
 
MSU...add #18 Mike Mattis (LW) and #30 John Weidenbach (G) to roster
 
UND...was 28-30-4 in CCHA from 81-2 to 82-3
 
OSU...Eddie Choi now wearing #8...Brian Keller becomes #26...Bill
Rathwell dons #28
 
WMU...head coach Bill Wilkinson has 198 career victories
 
UAF...open at home vs. Miami for 2nd straight year...affiliate member
 
SERIES NOTES
BG-LSSU...LSSU has won last 4 at Norris vs. BG...Lakers 8-0-1 in last
nine overall against Falcons
 
UM-FSU...FSU is 1-8 in last 9 games at Ewigleben vs. Michigan
 
UND-KSU...Each went 1-1 at home vs. other last year as independents
 
OSU-UIC...OSU ended 91-2 regular season by sweeping Flames in the Windy
City
 
UM-UAF...Miami awarded a forfeit win in second game vs UAF from last
year
 
MC-WMU...WMU split at Merrimack in 90-1
