I was asked for this info and it seemed like something that folks not
familiar with Boston would be interested to know. Here are the distances
between the rinks at each of the Beanpot schools, in miles, as the crow
flies:

     BC BU NU HU
BC x 2.5 4 3
BU 2.5 x 1.75 1
NU 4 1.75 x 2.75
HU 3 1 2.75 x

NU's Matthews Arena is the rink that is the furthest east, and it is 1.75
miles from the Garden.

Some of the schools may be even closer; i.e. parts of the NU and BU campuses
are less than a mile apart. And it is not uncommon for, say, BC/BU/NU
students to live in the same apartment.

NU people told me this weekend that there is NO WAY they will root even a
little bit for BU Monday. They said they could have taken a loss to any other
team but BU. :-) This demonstrates the interesting connections between the
schools - NU sees BU as its biggest rival, but for BU, it is clearly BC.
It is likely that 3/4 of the Garden will be rooting for Harvard Monday.
