Regarding Kent Manderville and Cornell Hockey...

I just graduated from Cornell this past May. I never paid any
attention to hockey before college, but no sporting event I've ever
been to or seen on TV can compare to a Big Red hockey game at Lynah
Rink. We had the loudest and most supportive fans I've ever seen
anywhere!

My apartmentmate last year was a writer for the sports dept. of
the Cornell Daily Sun. He interviewed both Kent Manderville and
Dan Ratushny, and both of them said that they were not returning
to Cornell. It was either to play for the Canadian national team
or to start their professional careers, I don't remember which.
This was as of March, so I'm not sure if they've
definitely departed or not. I still have plenty of friends back
at school, though, so I'll try to find out from them.

If it's true that they left, then I have a bad feeling that this
is going to be one of those "rebuilding years" for Cornell hockey.
Besides Manderville and Ratushny being gone, we graduated Trent
Andison and both of our goalies Cory D'Alessio and Jim Crozier.
Pretty much our entire first line is gone. The Big Red hockey
team is going to have to play their hearts out to have a successful
year. We had so much talent last year that one poll had us ranked
#2 in the nation pre-season. It was so frustrating to see us play
so inconsistently with all of that talent. But it was still a
terrific 4 years, and they were extremely fun and exciting to
watch. Best of luck to the Big Red this year.

Let's go RED!!!

P.S. Even though Clarkson was a fierce rival of Cornell's in
the ECAC, congratulations to them for knocking off #1
ranked Lake Superior State in the NCAA's. The ECAC never
gets any respect, but we always do well in the tournament!
