On ESPN's SportsCenter tonight, they showed highlights of the Maine-BU game as
well as the Minnesota-Denver game. This is the first time I can ever remember
ESPN covering the highlights of a regular season NCAA hockey game, regardless
of how big the match-up was. I was quite happy to see it and I hope this
wasn't just a one-shot deal because it was a slow evening or something...but
perhaps that is too much to hope.
Anyway, one of the more interesting things they showed was that BU's goal that
tied the game at 6 came on a shot that was no where near on goal, but deflected
off a Maine defenseman's skate and by the goalie on the stick side. Tough
break for Maine, but every now and then, you have to expect the rolls won't go
your way no matter how good you are.
