Well, looks like BU just can't solve the BC hex this year, as they
finish up 0-3-1 against them.

Some of the stats:

             1st 2nd 3rd Final
            =====   =====   =====   =====
      BC 1 2 2 5
      BU 1 0 1 2

shots BC: 7 - 7 - 6 20
      BU: 14 - ? - ? 40

Although BU controlled most of the play during the game, they just
couldn't take advantage of their opportunities while BC did. Most of
BC's goals were due to defensive lapses, particuliarly on the passing.
A shorthanded goal by BC's Fransocia (sp?) at the very end of the
second period [3-1] was probably the key goal. The 5th BC goal was
also a back-breaker as BU had was applying very heavy pressure on
LaGrand for a good 3 to 4 minutes and a goal by BU at that point could
have turned the game around.

Anyway, the definite story of the game was Scott LaGrand who played a
very solid game in goal, stopping every shot that he saw, and probably
a number that he didn't. BU's Jason Herlofsky was not playing up to
his past performances though, as he let in 1/4 of the shots put on the
net for his first lose of the season. [At least I think it was his
first loss (8-1-1?)]. Most of the blame should go to the defense of
BU though, as they let BC get a number of breakaways, about half of
which Herlofsky did stop.

There were also a huge number of penalty minutes handed out in the
game, especially after a huge fight with less than a minute to go.
There were at least 60 or 70 minutes in game misconducts handed out,
as a number of BU and BC players were sent off the ice. [40 minutes
of misconducts to BU alone.]

It looks as though BU finds itself in the awkward position of having
to route for Maine to win the Hockey East playoffs to get itself
invited to the NCAA's. If they do get invited, they are probably
hoping they don't run into any Hockey East teams, as all of their
losses and ties are against Hockey East competition.

Someone else [Mike?] will probably post an official scoring of the
game later on, listing all of the scorers and penalties, but I thought
I would give some advance notice [as per the request of a friend... Hi
Ernie!]

Hope to see some of you at the HockeyFest! [Hmmm... guess I should
be routing for Harvard as well, to make the ECAC selections have less
of an impact on BU. :-)]
