Wisconsin goaltender Mike Valley has signed with the Vancouver Canucks,
therefore giving up his last two years with the Badgers.
Valley's from the Vancouver area, so he said the move was right for him.
Wisconsin coach Jeff Sauer, however, said on Madison radio this morning he
didn't think it was the best thing for Mike's future.
I can't help but think he was trying to get out while he could, since
Graham Melanson was the team's No. 1 goalie down the stretch, including two
wins over North Dakota late in the season.
This kind of leaves the Badgers in a tough position, but they still have
Melanson to rest on. Who will come in as the No. 2 goalie next season is a
good question. Jake Soper (last year's No. 3 goalie) returns for his senior
season, but is he good enough to be one step away from the top spot at
"Goaltender U?"
