I just re-checked my tiebreaker calculations with Bill
Fenwick's correction; it really only effects the four-way ties, but it
does mean that Vermont has not clinched a top-six finish. This is
pretty cute: Vermont beats Colgate in a one-on-one tiebreaker, and
also in a three-team tiebreaker involving Colgate and any other team.
But they finish last in a four-way tie with Colgate, RPI and Union,
and in the infamous five-way tie.
I think that my statements about what happens if Cornell and
Princeton sweep still hold. If Vermont and RPI split, Princeton wins
the three-way tiebreak and gets third place, but RPI beats Vermont
one-on-one for fourth, and thus Clarkson would win the regular season
with a win over Colgate in this scenario.
Here are the revised bottom lines in most of the ties:
* Clarkson-Cornell (30-32) 2-0
* Cornell-RPI (28-29) 2-2
* Cornell-UVM (28-29) 2-2
* RPI>Cornell-UVM
* RPI>UVM 3-1
* RPI>Union 3-1
* RPI-Princeton 0-2
+ Princeton>RPI (27)
* Colg>RPI 3-1
* Union>UVM (25-27) 2-2
* UVM-Princeton (25-27) 2-2
* UVM>Colgate (25) 3-1
* Union>Princeton (23-27) 2-0
* Colgate>Union (23-25) 3-1
* Princeton>Colgate (23-25) 4-0
* RPI>Union>UVM (25-27)
* RPI-UVM-Princeton (25-27)
+ Princeton>RPI>UVM (27)
* UVM>Colgate>RPI
* Princeton>RPI>Union (26)
* Union>Princeton>RPI (25)
* Colgate>RPI>Union
* Princeton>Colgate>RPI
* Union>UVM-Princeton (25-27)
* UVM>Colgate>Union
* Princeton>UVM>Colgate
* Princeton>RPI>Union>UVM (26)
* Union>Princeton>RPI>UVM (25)
* Colgate>RPI>Union>UVM (25)
* Princeton>UVM>Colgate>RPI (25)
* Princeton>Colgate>RPI>Union (25)
* Princeton>UVM>Colgate>Union (25)
* Princeton>Colgate>RPI>Union>UVM
* SLU-Dart 2-2
* SLU>Yale 3-1
* SLU>Yale>Dart
* Yale>Dart 4-0
