While I liked very much having the regionals in Albany, only 3 hours from
Cornell as opposed to Boston 6 or 7 hours, Albany did have a significant
dearth of anything even remotely notable. It took almost a full hour of
driving around to find even a a pizza parlor at which to eat. The vicinity
of the rink had NO places to eat (with the exception of 1 McDonalds, but
really now, what block doesn't have one these days) and we were at least a
good 3 miles away before a suitable pizza parlor/dive type place was
located. In this respect, Albany is completely inadequate for such an
event. However, the Knick is a pretty good place to see the games, and
I'll take 3 hours of proximity over good restaurants any day, I think.
