Bernie Saunders played for the Broncos from 1975-76
through 1978-79. A winger who wore #12 and #9, Bernie
recorded 76-78--154 in 140 games.
John Saunders, a defenseman wearing #25, scored 2
goals in 10 games during the 1975-76 season.
The Saunders brothers are from Ajax ONT.
Bernie was inducted into the WMU Hall of Fame in
October 1994. He was the first Bronco to play in a
regular season NHL game. He recorded 1 assist in
10 games with the Quebec Nordiques.

Btw...as was mentioned on H-L, John S pointed out that
Washington Capital forward Keith Jones was a WMU
product last night. Later in the ESPN highlights he also
referred to NYR netminder Glenn Healy as "Glenn
Healy...from WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY!"
