I think the Hobey Baker Trophy will go to Casson Masters
or Matt Brush ... O.K., so the Trophy is for Princeton
rookie of the year. Who would I nominate from the ECAC
for the Hobey Baker Award?
Eric Perrin and Martin St. Louis, (f) Vermont; clearly the
two most explosive forwards in the league this year (although
I'll wager that Steve Martins would put up more points for
Harvard if he had a clone to skate alongside as these
fellows do).
Marko Tuomainen, (f) Clarkson: My choice as a forward from the
Golden Knights because he had more preseason build up than
Claude Morin; hence, voters will be more likely to single
him out.
Brian Mueller,(d) Clarkson: Clearly the best defenseman in
the ECAC and a sure All-American. I would probably vote
for Mueller ahead of the other ECAC candidates already
mentioned.
Todd Sullivan, (g) Yale: Sullivan won't be nominated, I
suspect, because his goals-against average is a little
high to catch the eye of non-ECAC voters. I still think
he is worthy of a nomination. He's probably the league's
most valuable player, in the sense of meaning most to his
team.
Hobey Baker trivia: What position did Hobey play?
What was Hobey's specialty in football?
What were Hobey's middle names?
Where did Hobey play high school hockey?
I'll post answers in a couple of days.
