Sean Grande came into the press box and noted this after the game. But
apparently the change in scoring (to O'Connell) had come from the BU bench
and the goal was awarded to O'Connell on the official scoresheet.
I suppose it is possible although unlikely that it will have been changed
later (after I left). But it does happen. Usually that will be decided by
the team. I doubt the league will review game tapes for something like
this. In the grand scheme of things it is not that important.
Since scoring changes often do come from the bench, if it is true that the
tape shows O'Connell did not touch it, it points out why that method of
changing the scoring cannot always be trusted. I don't know why the BU
players would say that O'Connell touched it if he did not, unless it was a
mistake or they simply wanted to get O'Connell the hat trick. But you
pretty much know whether you touched a puck or not.
BTW, Fox Sports New England will have Game 3 of this series tonight, 7:00 ET.
