Notre Dame was in the CCHA for two seasons - 1981-82 and 1982-83
(I think, anyway.  Keith will correct me if I am worng! :-) )
 
Before that they played in the WCHA. They joined the CCHA along with
Michigan, Michigan State, and Michigan Tech.
 
As Phil recalls, Notre Dame dropped down to the club level after 1983.
