As Glenn mentioned, Clarkson blew a 5-1 late second period lead
and ended up tying Dartmouth, 5-5.
 
Dartmouth got on the board first when the Big Green scored 6 seconds into
the power play. Late in the first, Clarkson tied it up on a power play
when a centering pass from behind the net went off a Dartmouth skate and
into the net tying it at 1. Early in the 2nd, a long shot from the point
eluded DC goalie Mike Bracco for a 2-1 CU lead. Shortly thereafter,
Clarkson took a penalty almost immediately followed by a Big Green
penalty. On the resulting 4-on-4, Clarkson scored twice. The first
on a poitn shot from Matt Pagnutti and the other on a shot from the
LW by Marko Tuomainen. On a scrum in front, Robitaille made it 5-1
with his 2nd of the night (he got CU's first goal). It was 5-1 Clarkson
late in the 2nd but Dartmouth scored 2 goals before the 2nd intermission
giving them some momentum. The first came after a Clarkson giveaway and
the DC player wristed one past Knight goalie Jason Currie's glove hand.
A few seconds later, a long shot from the point by Dartmouth's Scott
Fraser went right through Currie's legs for a PPG.
 
Dartmouth continued their roll scoring twice more in the first 5
minutes of the 3rd. Both teams had several good chances in the third
but failed to score. Dartmouth iced the puck at least half a dozen times
in a 2 or so minute span midway through the 3rd. Clarkson had a great
shot in the last seconds of regulation with Bracco on the ice, the CU
player fired it inches high of the crossbar.
 
About a minute into OT, referee Murphy was pelted in the face with a clearing
pass. He lay on the ice for a few minutes but fortunately, he was all right
and was able to conclude the game. Clarkson got a rare OT power play as
Dartmouth was called for charging into Currie but the Knights failed to
score.
 
As Glenn mentioned, the shots were ~48-41, Clarkson.
 
In Canton, UVM beat St Lawrence, 4-2. I believe it's SLU's 9th straight
loss.
 
One pet peeve of mine, during this game, involves the players. Typically,
in the 3rd period of a close game, a Clarkson player(s) will raise his
stick and encourage the crowd to cheer. This normally results in a standing
ovation...until the next defensive giveway, usually 10 seconds later. This
happened in the 3rd period after about 15 minutes where the Knights just
didn't show up and allowed 4 straight Big Green goals. Maybe, if they
had put 1/10 of the energy into those 15 minutes as they expected us to
give, they wouldn't have been in that predicament. Maybe the players should
worry more about their play on the ice and less about the (justifiably
frustrated) fans!
