Here's a quick summary as promised. Despite Geoff Seargent's 41 save
performance, the huskies couldn't skate 3 full periods with the wildcats
tied 1-1 after 2 and outshot 15-2 in the second period (told you seargent
had a hell of a game) Northern came out flying again in the 3rd and scored
the lead goal at the 11 second mark and went on from there to take a 4-1
victory heading back to marquette for tomorrow's game (yes contrary to most
eastern fans knowledge there are still some home and home series left in the
WCHA!). The first period comsumed over an hour of time including what I can
only call a Professional style fight (i'm not condoning it just reporting it)
in the first period that resulted in 5 min majors and game dq's for each
player (Lewis for tech and not sure of the name for the cats.) Tech skated
hard and fast but just couldn't keep up with the high flying cats. Tech had
the first goal of the game but was taken away when it was ruled to go off a
skate (controversial to say the least) the slap shot was taken from top of
the circle and deflected up to pye who muffed it allowing it to roll into the
net. Last i knew a deflected puck off a skate is legeal provided not intention
al (the man had his back to the shot!) Some of you rule book readers help us
out here. tho it would have given the lead to tech it wouldn't have mattered
for the outcome the better team definatly won tonight.
Now to only spoil there fun tomorrow at home! go Huskies!
