It's not often that you get the chance to post your own
coaching position change , perhaps this is a first. I,
Ric Schafer, will not be the head hockey coach at Notre Dame
next season. I have requested a transfer within the athletic
department and / or physical education dept. You can read
in the CCHA standings and RPICH that Notre Dame has done
improved significantly since joining the CCHA three years ago.
What you don't see is the number of scholarships that we've had..
12, 13, and 14 this past season.  But that's another story.
Suffice it to say to all you hockey lovers, coaching can be
a heavy burden! For six months and 34+ games each year a coach
endures an awful lot, both good and bad of course. If things
are not going well they can become even worse in short order.
Disgruntled athe...athletes are common and too often influencial
in all the wrong ways. That's another story. So, I thought
that this might make for some good between period gossip this
weekend and you'll have first hand information. Right from
the former coach himsel. Let the speculation begin on my
