The only "enigma" about Cornell and most of the other colleges and universities
which do not award athletic "scholarships" is that they have been able to be
competitive for so long while skating at such a great disadvantage.  Please
do NOT interpret my comment as "sour grapes", but only a good-natured obser-
-vation from someone who believes that the education really should come first.
