It is. There's an organization of 2-year schools, mostly "community
colleges" called the NJCAA (National Junior College Atheletic
Association) that has something like 20 schools with hockey programs.
 
SUNY Canton won last year's national tournament, which was held
in Lake Placid.

PS Pam, you're right. Itasca, Hibbing and Bottineau have teams in the
NJCAA.
