Believe it or not, Al Lawrence, the Albany AHL franchise owner, picked that
mascot personally, for marketing reasons! ;-) He believes the River Rats logo
will become one of the top emblems in minor league hockey, (right up there with
with current marketing king Peoria (@@) ), complete with River Rat t-shirts,
caps, sweats, commuter mugs and the like.  I shudder to think what catcalls the
fans at other AHL rinks will come up with when the River Rats hit town.
