This is my first posting to the list. I discovered it
several weeks ago and immediately subscribed. My interest
in college hockey goes back to the my college days in the
late 1960s when my school, Ohio University, had a real
varsity team. I recall one night, while on assignment for
the local newspaper, interviewing the late Bob Johnson,
when he coached at Wisconsin. That's a loooong time ago!
I'm not sure how visible I can be here, largely
because we have no collegiate ice hockey anywhere near
where I live in the Tidewater area of Virginia. However,
as a sports copy editor and page designer at the local
newspaper, I have access to the Associated Press wire
service.
Since I'm at the office on Friday and Saturday
nights, which seem to be when the most games are held,
I can copy the AP hockey scorelist onto a floppy and
upload the scores here and to Hockey-3 when I get home
each night around 1:30 Eastern Time. Hopefully the
latest list from AP will include almost everything
except games held in Alaska.
I don't recall if game stories move, too. When the
season starts up, I'll keep an eye out.
A couple of questions. From reading the archives
I can see this is a great resource. I see Hockey News
on a local newsstand, but I'm wondering what other
publications might be worth subscribing to. And, with
an opportunity to do some travel in Canada this winter,
are Canadian schools covered here or does anyone know of
a way to keep up with them? The AP scorelist only includes
United States schools (except when one plays a Canadian
school).
