Speaking of Nieuwendyk, he's the answer to a good trivia question:
who is the only player besides Mike Bossy and [Gretxky or Lemieux -- I
forget] to score 50-plus goals in each of his first two NHL seasons?
 
        Also speaking of Nieuwendyk, he spends summers here in Ithaca;
in fact, Manderville is here this summer, too (I believe he's taking
courses, as Nieuwendyk does when he's here).  The reason I know about
Manderville's being here is that my dentist told me yesterday that Kent
had joined the Country Club to play golf this summer.  It's tough having
a dentist who's really into hockey --- he's always saying things to which
I would love to reply when my mouth is full of cotton, drills, fingers,
and Xylocaine.
