Rich, how do you base your rating system? It seems silly to me to try and
"grade" the refs, especially from where you sit on the fence.

What? I guess you didn't read my previous post.

I wish you had so that one of them would have wacked you with their stick.

If you had bothered to read my earlier post, which it seems you did from some
of your comments in this posting, you wouldn't be so critical. Carvel got a
chance to play because he may never have another one. At least not a starting
role. Watching him in warmups I knew it would be a long night for RPI. But
I'm not blaming him. He's a backup goalie. That's been his role ever since
he got to RPI. Of course he didn't play like Neil, but he's still a good goalie
and he made several nice stops.

As for Tamburro, he's going to be a great one. He's got loads of potential and
he works hard in practice. In case you missed it, the reason UAH came backe
was due to a lack of defense. Mike played excellently in the nets. And Neil
really needed the break.

See above.

Because Buddy's the coach and that's what he decided. A perfect choice in my
opinion. But my opinion, or yours, doesn't really matter because we have no
say in that decision.

Baloney. Belanger is not a very good ref in my opinion (though Kenny likes
him) but he did a fair job. As for Noeth, I thought he was greatly improved
over his last Field House appearance.

>kept stats like this-

What's the point of this? There's much more to officiating than just numbers.
If this is how you're rating officials, then I'm appalled that you consider
yourself knowledgeable about the game.

>successive ones called against RPI! Things that make you go hmmmm. I score
>Belanger a 3/10 and Noeth a 2/10 for their subpar performances.

I don't understand how you can rate referees. Unless you've ever tried it
yourself, you probably don't know exactly how hard it is. I know because I
used to be up there in the stands saying the same things about the refs. Rich,
this is just pathetic of you.

Rich, this is SOOO silly. And also immature.

>knuckleheaded lass yell "HIT THE REF! HIT THE REF!" when the puck was

WHAT???? As much as I hate people calling a linseman a ref and vice versa, how
about looking at the more important thing here. Why yell at the ref at all?

Actually, I'm starting to get tired of this whole attitude (sorry to all you
avid fans who love those cheers and enthusiastically join in). In high school
I played on a football team that insisted on class. We were very much like
the Redskins organization (for those of you who follow football also) and
coming to RPI was almost a culture shock. I joined in for a while but now I'm
sick of it. I love hockey far too much to degrade it with all these silly
chants.

>Unless they get their act together, I'm going to start wishing for an organ

There already is an organ in the Field House and you DON'T want to hear it.
The guy who plays it during CD Islander games is horrible. Much more so than
the band.

Absolutely not!!!!

Why yell at the refs at all? From what I've seen Rich, it's much more often
than just on the really bad calls. And besides, that's Buddy's job anyways.

>off an opposing player as he heads to the box after a roughing or fighting
>call, or the opposing team's coach if he's really bitching out the ref. That's
>not too bad, c'mon. My trademark is during the post-goal "1..2..3....we want

Sorry, but I disagree. Flipping off an opposing player is about the lowest
form of sportsmanship there is. You might boo him for being an idiot, but I
really don't see any place in sports for such abusive and vulgar behavior.
Fortunately, I think the NHL is beginning to realize this and turn hockey
around at the highest levels.

>to the opposing goalie. At 6'3" and having a 8'6" reach, I extend over 5' over

8'6"? Yesterday I thought you said 9'4" or something like that.

Actually, I think a ref poll would be pretty humorous.
