I have read with interest the recet rumor that Notre Dame is
considering joining the Hockey East.  Speaking as the coach for the
N.D. team, I must say that our chances for joining the league are
about as good as the possibility that we will drop football. None!
As much as I would like to join a league, any league, there is no
chance that we would join the Hockey East.  Instead, I would like
very much for our administration to consider the option of joining t
the CCHA.  It is a good league nearby.  Our travel expenses would
be minimal, our time away from classes minimal, our exposure to
national television (PASS) great.  In addition, we could split six
of our home weekends with games at home on one night and the other
on the road. It's tough to get these B-Ball crazed Hoosiers out for
one hockey game, much more two games on the weekend.
Sorry to squelched the rumor but those are the facts. I could only
wish that my administration were thinking about hockey at all.
