The Hockey East Update will go on hiatus for a few weeks since the
next HE league game will not be held until January 5th.
 
Maine's Paul Kariya added to his nation-leading point totals with a
goal and an assist against UNH (scored the winner) and four assists
against UMass-Lowell to give him 13-36--49 in 16 games.  Kariya will
play for Team Canada in the World Junior Tournament in Sweden from
Dec 26-Jan 4.
 
The magic number for Maine to clinch first place is 24 points. :-)
 
Above is the complete schedule involving all HE teams for the next few
weeks, but here it is team-by-team so you can see what everyone is up to:
 
BOSTON COLLEGE
 * Hosts Moscow Spartak in an exhibition 12/21.
 * Plays Wisconsin in the first round of the Badger Showdown in
   Milwaukee's Bradley Center 12/28, then either Miami or BU on 12/29.
 * Visits Harvard on 1/3/93 at 2 pm.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY
 * Plays Miami in the first round of the Badger Showdown in Milwaukee
   12/28, then either BC or Wisconsin on 12/29.
 * Visits Army on 1/2/93 at 7:30 pm.
 * Returns to HE action on 1/5/93 at UMass-Lowell.
MAINE
 * Plays Western Michigan in the first round of the Great Western Freeze
   Out in LA's Great Western Forum on 12/19, then either Lake Superior or
   Princeton on 12/20.
 * Plays Ohio State in the first round of the Cleveland Cup on 12/29,
   then either Bowling Green or Cornell on 12/30.
 * Hosts Miami in the first round of the Dexter Classic at home in the
   Alfond Arena on 1/2/93, them either Brown or Lake Superior on 1/3/93.
UMASS-LOWELL
 * Plays at RPI in the first round of the RPI Invitational on 12/29 at
   RPI's Houston Field House, then either Clarkson or Providence on 12/30.
 * Returns to HE action on 1/5/93 at home vs BU.
MERRIMACK
 * Hosts Union on New Year's Day at 2 pm.
 * Hosts Vermont on 1/3/93 at 2 pm.
NEW HAMPSHIRE
 * Hosts Dartmouth in the first round of the Auld Lang Syne Classic at
   Snively Arena on 12/29, then either Vermont or Northeastern on 12/30.
 * Hosts RPI on 1/2/93.
NORTHEASTERN
 * Plays Vermont in the first round of the Auld Lang Syne Classic at
   UNH's Snively Arena on 12/29, then either Dartmouth or UNH on 12/30.
 * Hosts Yale on 1/2/93 at 2 pm.
PROVIDENCE
 * Hosts Moscow Spartak in an exhibition on 12/27 (2 pm, I think).
 * Plays Clarkson in the first round of the RPI Invitational on 12/29 at
   RPI's Houston Field House, then either UMass-Lowell or RPI on 12/30.
 * Hosts Air Force on 1/2/93 and 1/3/93.
