Quick summary:

A term paper due this morning prevented me from posting this last night
although I was at the game (finished the paper at 4 a.m.) I apologize
for the delay.

BU came out with one of their best performances all season in the league
victory over BC. BU handled the puck well and avoided taking too many dumb
penalties, while BC struggled on defense all night and didn't apply any real
pressure to the Terriers until the thrid period. Two goals by John Joyce kept
the Eagles in pace with the Terriers until goals by Dave Sacco and Jon
Pratt put BU up by 2 at the end of the 2nd. Things looked bleak for the Eagles
early in the 3rd when Steve Foster notched his 1st of the season on a
beautiful feed from Doug Friedman, beating Singewald low on his stick side.
But BC, with a little help from Lady Luck, cut the lead to 5-4 following a
a clearing attempt by Rich Brennan that deflected off the top of Sacco's glove
and right over the shoulder of a dumbfounded Derek Herlofsky. (Credit
short-handed goal to BC's Marc Beran.) Just a few minutes later, BC dumped the
puck deep into the Terrier zone on a BU power play, but Ron Pascucci wrangled
the puck from Kaj Linna and wheeled around the net to stuff it past Herlofsky.
These two quick goals sparked BC and began to shoft the momentum, but Steve
Thornton's 20-foot wrist shot sailed through the pads of Singewald and into
the BC net, shattering any comeback hopes by the Eagles. The door on BC's
coffin was nailed shut just 53 seconds later when Dave Sacco redeemed himself
and launched a wrist shot from the red line that sailed into the empty net.

The Terriers are now 4-3 in Hockey East, 6-4-1 overall, while the Eagles fall
to 3-4 in league play and 4-6-3 overall.

BU travels up to Hanover, NH, Saturday for a matchup with ECAC foe Dartmouth.
