The November 14th issue of College Hockey Magazine (the one with ND's Ric
Scafer on the cover) lists the following Hobey Hopefuls:

Fowards:

Steve Dubinsky - Clarkson
Darby Hendrickson - Minnesota
Greg Johnson - North Dakota
Paul Kariya - Maine
Jim Montgomery - Maine
David Oliver - Michigan
Derek Plante - Minnesota-Duluth
Angelo Ricci - Denver
Brian Rolston - Lake Superior
Bryan Smolinski - Michigan State
Jim Storm - Michigan Tech
John Young - Michigan Tech
Jason Zent - Wisconsin

Defense:
Martin Bakula - Alaska Anchorage
Martin d'Orsonnens - Clarkson
Barry Richter - Wisconsin
David Roberts - Michigan
Chris Therien - Providence

Goal:
Jason Currie - Clarkson
Mike Dunham - Maine
Blaine Lacher - Lake Superior
Tom Newman - Minnesota
Jamie Ram - Michigan Tech
Chris Rogles - Clarkson
Bryan Schoen - Denver
Steve Shields - Michigan
Garth Snow - Maine

This list seems to vary with each issue. The previous issue listed preseason
predictions that also included Ted Drury (Harvard), Mark Kaufmann (Yale), Mike
Murray (UMass-Lowell), David Sacco (BU), Chris Imes (Maine), Ian Moran (BC),
Kevin O'Sullivan (BU), Scott Cashman (BU), Corwin Suardiff (N. Michigan) and
Christian Soucy (Vermont). I guess these guys are off to slower starts.
Interesting that all but one of the people dropping off the pre-season list of
favorites are from either ECAC or HE.

Players in the most recent list who were not in the pre-seasaon list were:
Kariya, Ricci, Rolston, Bakula, Roberts, Lacher, and Schoen.

Chris Lerch
Xerox Corp.
RIT '84 & '91

P.S. Does anybody think that Jason Zent has a prayer of winning this award
after the unfortunate incident in last season's NCAA final?
