I am interesting in staring some discussion on teams playing their second
game in two nights vs. a "well rested team". Now I understand that in the
West when two games are played vs same opponent you wouldn't have this
situation -- But here is eastern example.

For whatever reason, Union and Dartmouth only played one game this weekend,
while their respective travel partners RPI, Vermont played 2. On friday,
it was RPI hosting Vermont; on Saturday, it was Dartmouth at RPI,
Vermont at Union. RPI won on Saturday, Vermont lost.

Nevertheless, my claim is that it is unfair for teams to have to play
back to back against teams that don't. I am not trying to say that the
outcomes of games were a fluke, but I will say that this is not the first
time this has happened, and more often than not, the rested team has
a distinct physical advantage.

My argument would be for a rest day (for RPI and UVM in this case) and
then play second games on Sunday. Recall that the NC&& used to have
a semi-final on Thursday, the other one on Friday, and the championship
game on Saturday. This was changed so the winner on Thursday did not have
a huge advantage going into the championship.

I also believe that it is NHL policy that for any given game, either
both teams played the night before, or neither team did.
