The St. Cloud State Huskies finished a weekend sweep of the Northern
Michigan Wildcats with a 2-1 victory on home ice. Defense was evidently
the name of the game; both teams had 8 power plays but failed to score
on any of them.

The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the first. NMU's Steve Carpenter got his
first goal of the season in the third period, but it ended at 2-1.

Rick Comley, Wildcat head coach, was quoted as saying "We didn't play
well the first two periods. We need to learn how to compete every night
out. It was a chaotic game, with a lot of power plays. Our defense as
a whole played better, and (goalie Corwin) Saurdiff kept us in the game
at times. He had a good game.

The eight power plays killed by the Wildcats extended their streak to 26
straight over the past four games.
