Wisconsin did not play the first period with intensity, but gradually
started playing better. The tigers put a lot of pressure on the
badgers, but neither team was able to get their stick on the puck when
they had to.

The game was closely played, with few penalties. Jason Zent had a
beautiful shorthanded breakaway in the middle of the second period. He
was hauled down from behind as he put the puck towards or in the corner
of the net, which was dislodged. The goal judge briefly lit the red
light, but after a short discussion, which the Badgers did not dispute,
he was awarded a penalty shot. The crowd was really reved up, but Zent
shot the puck high into Bach's right shoulder, who came out and
challenged him very well.

Rob Granato (the third Granato to play for Wisconsin, and a transfer
from CC) got the only goal, his second game-winner of the season,
towards the end of the second period, after a lot opf Badger pressure
and a wild scramble in front of the net.

Badger goalie Jon Michalizzi played very well, as did CC's Bach. Bach
made some very good saves, but the Badgers just couldn't put the puck
away, even on an open net (2 shots in the final seconds -- one wide,
one over the net).

This was the first 1-0 Badger winning shutout at the Dane County Coliseum.

I'll have a box score tommorrow.
