I feel compelled to defend Rick Banks here.  What I object to, and what I
believe he was objecting to, was _organized_ profanity.  It's one thing for
an individual fan to utter a curse in response to a bad call.  It's quite
another to hear 100 students collectively chant "the ref f**ks sheep".  I
have a number of friends who have given up their tickets once their kids
reached an age at which they could understand these "cheers".
 
I remember Wisconsin fans being rowdy, but do not remember the kind of
organized profanity I see here at Cornell.  Like Rick Banks, I am
uncomfortable being associated with it.
 
Having only attended college games at two places, I'm curious about whether
this is a widespread phenomenon at collegiate games.  Any insights out there?
 
Remember, these players are not professionals -- they are 20 year old students.
