Just to throw my $ .02 into the ongoing debate over BU uniforms:
 
The only reason I can think of that BU just has 'BOSTON' on the sweaters is
because of space. 'University' is a long and cumbersome word, and difficult to
fit on the front of a jersey. Anyone who follows college hockey should have
no trouble recognizing the team--if it doesn't say 'Boston College' and it's
not maroon and gold, who can it be? IMHO, 'University' isn't really necessary.
 
I guess the people who designed the uniforms assumed that the scarlet and white
and "Boston" would be enough...I can't think of any schools that have
'University' on their jerseys--can anyone else?
 
BTW, it's been "BOSTON" for many years--the older jerseys had a terrier face
on the front in lieu of the player's number (which they have now).
 
Can anyone else offer other explanations? I'm just as curious as you are :)
