Greetings, Back from my trip to Minneapolis. Thanks to Carol, Erik and Pam
for the Hospitality. Highlites of the trip included a 6-0 shutout of
the Wisconsin Capitals by the St. Paul Vulcans in USHL hockey.
Michigan Tech's annual Black and Gold Game was played while I was gone,
so here is a brief summary.
All 6 goals in a 3-3 OT tie were scored by freshman and sophmores, including
2 each by soph Randy Stevens, and soph Justin Peca.
Freshmen Mitch Lane scored one, and Freshman Mike Figliomeni (on a line with
Jim storm and John Young) scored the final goal of the game at 2:22 of the
3rd to send it to OT
Due to a groin injury to Junior netminder Jamie Ram, Freshman walkon Randy
Wakeham got a chance to play the entire game, stopping 16 shots while
allowing 3 goals, in a game shortened to 15 min periods. Vettraino made 24
saves, 3 in OT on the other end of the ice.
The Huskies open their season tonight against the colorado college Tigers.
Game time for both tonight and tomorrow is 7:30 (thats a 1/2 hour change
from scheduled for saturday). If i have time later, I'll type in the
info I have on the new freshman for the Huskies.
Bob
