This is the first of what will hopefully be weekly Hockey East updates
once again throughout the season. See earlier messages for details on
the three exhibitions that were played between Ottawa and three HE
teams.

Hockey East opens play this coming weekend with 6 of the 8 teams involved
in either league or nonconference play. The big games are up in Orono
where Maine hosts Providence in a pair of league games. Friday's (10/23)
game will be shown on NESN live. BC, UMass-Lowell, Merrimack, and UNH
also get their seasons underway with nonleague action against teams from
the CCHA and ECAC.

BU and Northeastern are off but will open up Halloween weekend in
nonleague action of their own.

No standings this week since all three games played will not count in
the teams' overall records.
