Hockey East mascots are:

BC: The Eagle, non-skating, looks like it was done with papier-mache' - the
same one you see when you see BC football or hoop on nat'l tv.
BU: Rhett the Terrier, skating and hockey-playing, he/she shoots pucks into
the net and does those tricks with the puck & stick that we all did when
 growing up and playing.
Maine: Bananas the Bear, skating; Wayne has told stories about him in the past.
UMass-Lowell: Charlie Chief, a giant skating puck - and it's a female, check
out the legs. The puck skates around between periods and slides into the
nets. The first time it appeared this season, it had a bag full of styrofoam
pucks that the announcer said were going to be tossed into the crowd one
by one and were good for a free Whopper at Burger King. The sheer brilliance
of this promotion was exposed when Charlie Chief went to throw the first
puck over the glass and it slowly floated to Charlie's feet after about a
few inches. That was it for the season. Somewhere there is a warehouse of
styrofoam pucks. The promotion was later altered to have Charlie walk
around the crowd and hand them out.
Merrimack: the Warrior, skating. Also a female, in fact a former pretty
darn good figure skater in her own right. New for the last few games of last
season, there was some question as to whether or not this would be allowed
to continue because of the controversy over the use of Indian nicknames.
New Hampshire: the Wildcat, skating if I remember correctly.
Northeastern: Mr & Mrs Husky - two, both skating. And Mrs Husky is a guy.
Providence: the Friar, skating. Looks like Friar Tuck but about 10 times
fatter. If he ever falls over, they'll have to roll him out the Zamboni
 doors.

I wouldn't say that any of the HE mascots are particularly thrilling or
exciting, at least not like the Golden Knight was before his frontal lobotomy,
but they all do something to get the crowd in the game and that's really what
they're there for.

BTW, Bruce Crowder took the initiative to get a mascot back at Lowell when he
took over last season, and the first venture was a skating gorilla. It lasted
one game. Too bad, because it had potential - it couldn't skate for beans
but it was slamming up against the glass in a pretty good Knight imitation
and woke a few fans up.
