  I too think this is sappy and perhaps even patronizing. Like somehow
  the Lady <what ever>'s aren't true, full fledged <what ever>'s. Here at
  UMaine, it may even be derogatory. The more technical term for a
  lady black bear is a sow. I just don't think that would go over well.
