On Michigan vs Minnesota play:

> Michigan swept Minnesota fairly easily in head-to-head play. I'm not

I'm curious as to the scores of these games.

On what is permissible in the way of goal-scoring tactics:
(the following from a posting on the CCHA championship)

> puck out of the goal. However, before the penalized Harlock could get back

I thought this was illegal--"hitting with a high stick"--it was the
(day after allegation) reason given for the disallowing of what would
have been the 4th Northern Michigan goal against Minnesota in the
WCHA final.

On the Hobey Baker candidates and LSSU's Madely modest and gracious
remark:

> Also, Madeley was asked about being a Hobey Baker candidate. In response
> to how he thought he would finish, Madeley said that he "would be happy to
> finish fifth." Who would Madeley select? "Felsner and [NMU's] Scott Beattie

This is really gratifying, because who better to estimate the quality
of an offensive player (or, for that matter, I suppose, a defensive
one), than an opposing goal tender. I suspect none of us Wildcat fans
believe Scott Beattie has any chance at the Hobey Baker because hs
scoring has slumped so badly the second half of the season. But his
overall talent and performance, and past scoring records, speak for
themselves. His stickhandling and quickness are worth the price of
admission anytime, and even without scoring hardly anything the last
several weeks, he's continued to make great contributions to his team,
fighting for the puck and getting it to his hotter-scoring teammates.
Thanks, Daren! I'll be rooting for you to get the Hobey (though not
via a great performance vs NMU in the NCAA, should we meet :-) ).

On the NCAA seeding of Northern Michigan:

> The Gophers of Minnesota still get the #2 seed in the West despite being
> upended by NMU in the title game of the WCHA. This makes a little more sense
> though as NMU was third in the regular season, lost the season series with Min
> and the Gophers won the regular season title by a huge number of points.. If

Whoa there!! NMU won the season series, counting the playoff champion-
ship game. The Wildcats and Gophers split the regular season series
2-2--with each sweeping the other on its home ice, quite an oddity.

and finally, Erik B. notes:

Absolutely correct, Erik. But the Broadmoor Cup resides in Lakeview
Arena (and was won in Lakeview West!). ;-)
