It is now Sunday evening. I have almost recovered from the celebrating we
did here in Plattsburgh last night. Yesterday,I had to travel from Syracuse,
after taking the GMAT, to Plattsburgh to make the game. I ended up getting
into the rink with only 5 minutes left in the first period of the NC$$ Div. III
National Championship Final. Plattsburgh was ahead 3-0. And the winner
was...
P L A T T S B U R G H S T A T E !!!!!!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Plattsburgh State upset the three-time defending
NC$$ Div.III National Champion, the Univ. of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 7-3!
And a very sweet victory indeed. The Ronald B. Stafford Arena on the
Plattsburgh State campus was packed with 3,500+ fans who cheered their team to
victory. Well, with the exception of, of course, the Univ. of Wisconsin-
Stevens Point contingent. Salem State edged out Univ. of Wisconsin-Superior in
the consolation game earlier Saturday afternoon. I must say that this was
definitely the year to be involved with the program. It was a bit of a
struggle for me to become manager, being a female; but in the end, it worked
out, and very much for the best. The NC$$ Championship was just what we needed
to make it a triple crown season: SUNYAC, ECAC, NC$$! Of course, as one
might guess, it was impossible to find even one copy of the Plattsburgh
Press-Republican (a.k.a. Press-Repulsive) in all the city. If I had it
with me right now, I'd post some excerpts from it, maybe later tonight. I
am so proud of the guys, and I really can't believe that the season is
over now, not to mention that we're National Champions, too! I'll check
back later!
