In what was something of a thrill for University of Alaska
Anchorage hockey fans last night (1/29), two former Seawolf
players were skating on the same line for the Chicago
Blackhawks in their 4-3 win at Edmonton. Although this would
probably not be news at other established college hockey
institutions, it is at UAA as they are the first two
Seawolf players to play in the NHL. Former UAA defenseman
Mike Peluso, a winger with the Blackhawks, is in his
second season with Chicago while Rob Conn, UAA's leading
scorer in 1990-91 and all-time leading goal scorer, was
brought up for last night's game from Indianapolis of the
IHL...The TV announcers for the game which was seen over
cable here in Anchorage made mention of the situation,
unfortunately the color guy said they were from Alaska
Fairbanks, which drew a collective gasp from every corner
of Anchorage...thankfully, the play-by-play guy (I forget
they're names) corrected his partner's goof soon thereafter.
