I don't have all that much to add, having left all my papers
at home when I watched the game, but here goes.

First Period: Cornell plays well; both teams get some attack
time. A Big Red defenseman (one of the Jasons--Dailey or Kendall)
scored on the power play, the puck hitting Dan Murphy in the shoulder
and rolling into the net. Jeff Oates hits the crossbar for Cornell.
Todd "Hobey" White is harried just enough to keep Cornell out of
trouble.

Second Period: Very little 5-on-5 time as Cornell's tight
defensive play frays leads to a bit of chippiness. Steve Wilson
scores Cornell's second power-play goal, making it 2-0. After a
couple of second-period collapses against Clarkson in the regular
season, Cornell now enters the second intermission in control.

Third Period: Clarkson is on the offensive thruout the first
part of the period. Wilson hurts his MVP bid by taking a couple of
ill-advised retaliatory penalties. Clarkson doesn't convert, but with
about six minutes to play, still in control after the power play,
Jean-Francois Houle, playing with a deep gash in his shin, banks in a
rebound off the crossbar. The last five minutes are tensely
reminiscent of the third period of last year's championship game.
Cornell manages to kill most of them in Clarkson's zone, and gets yet
another 2-1 victory in the ECAC title game.

Jason Elliott wins his second straight tournament MVP. The
only other ECAC player to do that was another Cornell goalie, a fellow
by the name of Dryden...

Next: Clarkson look to bounce back for their NCAA tournament
run, with a reasonable shot to be the first national champion from the
ECAC since 1989. Cornell waits to see which regional they're playing
in, but everything from here on is icing on the ECAC cake.
