Some things to clear up:

The Freakout has been an annual tradition since 1978 at RPI.

Recent "souveniers" at Freakouts:
    1986 Megaphone
    1987 Horn
    1988 Shaving Towel
    1989 Bandanna
    1990 Pom-Pom
    1991 Megaphone
    1992 ????

Herb hammond was the Brown coach in 1987 who hated the horns.

Fans still bring horns from '87 to the Field House and blow them like there's
no tomorrow! There's not that many of them anymore, but you can still hear
them. No warnings or bench minors have been issued in the four years of games
I have been at because of the noise. One warning was issued at the Brown-RPI
game last month when a fan, in the obvious spirit of the last freakout, threw
a megaphone on the ice after an RPI insurance goal.
Perhaps there should be a ref's whistle night at the field house. I don't
think the game will ever end!
if I get my hands on a noisemaker, I use it!

As for the subject header on this message, that was what one side of a
banner I brought to the field house for the 1990 Quarterfinals vs. Brown read.
The other side read "Brown, SWEEP out your lockers and go home. This pissed off
the coach and the travelling contingent of Brown fans big time! Two scuffles
with fans, the coach being escorted by his assistants from the rink at games
end when he wanted to get his hands on me, the talk of the Tute for at least a
year ("Are you the guy who pissed off Brown...", etc. I tell you, it was
beautiful!

Anyone out there have stories to match the above. I think that RPI fans
are quite the obnoxious, and may it always be so!

Could anyone give a view from Brown on the RPI-Brown rivalry? I
specifically am dying to find out what brown papers and Providence news had to
say about the 1990 Q-finals and 1991 freakout events!

The current RPI win streak vs. Brown is 19 games.

Well, time to go. -Yours in College Hockey, Rich Vehlow vehlor2rpi.edu
