The Bangor Daily News reports today that one of the teams scheduled
to compete in the Dexter Classic has dropped out. Dukia Jihiava
(that's the name on my schedule, I think the paper gave a slightly
different one, but transliteration is an art form not a science)
a top Czech team, has been told by its federation that foreign travel
will not be permitted this year. This is scarcely surprising, the
situation in Eastern Europe being what it is (whatever it is!). Some
fast footwork by the UM athletic department has resulted in Concordia
College of Montreal being added to replace vanished Czechs.

Concordia has already played exhibitions against three HE teams:
(again this is my recollection of the BDN's morning article)
Concordia defeated New Hampshire, but lost to Lowell and (surprise!)
Merrimack. Concordia will open against Lowell in the 4:00 Friday
game so they get a chance to even the record against both Lowell
and HE. (Maine plays Army Friday night at 7:00) I know some of
you have seen Concordia play; was the New Hampshire win a fluke
or is Concordia really that good, but simply forgot how to play
when they faced Merrimack?
