I was going to post a more complete guide to searches of the HOCKEY-L
archives, but never find the time, so here is a brief description ...
BITNET members may obtain interactive results using the LDBASE facility;
this posting does *not* cover using LDBASE.
To make a search of the HOCKEY-L, send mail to
[log in to unmask]
In the body of the mail, include the following ...
// job echo=no
database search dd=rules
//rules dd *
search doug weight in hockey-l since feb 91
index
/*
All of the above lines should begin in column 1. LISTSERV will mail the
results of the search back to you. The results in this case (index)
will contain a list of hits: all postings that match the search
criteria, in the form of a posting number followed by the subject line.
Once you get the results back, you may obtain the actual articles by
inserting a "print" command after the above "index" command. If just
"print" is entered, all selected articles are displayed. You may also
use "print #,#,..." to print just one or a few articles.
Please submit your first search *without* a "print" line in case many
articles match the criteria.
Here's a final more complicated example ...
// job echo=no
database search dd=rules
//rules dd *
search quest (but not (request or conquest or question)) -
in hockey-l since feb 90
index
print
/*
