I never thought that players on the ice paid much attention to the
chants of the crowd but after the Clarkson-Dartmouth game, a friend
said that he thought the Big Green goalie was really bothered by the
crowd taunting because he kept looking up at the fans while skating around
(apparently) nervously. Did any Clarkson people notice that?
 
In most cases, it's obviously bad for a (opposing) player to acknowledge the
crowd. An exception might be a player (like baseball's Jose Canseco) who
does so sarcastically. Otherwise, a skater is playing into the crowd's hands.
 
Does anybody (especially any coaches or AD's) have any thoughts on this?
