Not to be mean to the Ivies or anything, but...  If the Ivies disaprove of
the NCAA playoffs they can decline to participate in them, like they do with
football in regards to the Div1AA playoffs.  No one forces the league to to
play in NCAA tournaments.
 
As for the additional day of classes missed, this is a factor for *all* the
schools which play hockey, not just the Ivies.  Still, in hockey it would be
at most two weeks of missed classes, compared to the three weeks in the
basketball tournament.
