While there is no game story on last night's Can-USA game, there is a
feature on Hingham, MA/BC's Marty McInnis in today's Boston Globe (10/16/91)
by Jim Greenidge.  I've typed in some of the more interesting parts:
 
"...[McInnis is] the fourth-leading scorer with 11 points (4 goals) for the
US team, which has a 7-8-3 record (including 2-4-1 vs NHL teams and 4-4-1
vs international teams).
 
...US Coach Dave Peterson has come to appreciate McInnis, particularly his
versatility.  He can play any of the forward positions, with left wing the
place he currently rests his hat.  McInnis can also be used in man-up or man-
down situations.  'I knew he was a good player,' Peterson said, 'but he's
a much better defensive player than I thought.'
 
...As for the team, McInnis believes the best is to come.  The players'
timing is getting better, he says.  'We skate well and have outstanding
quickness,' he said.  'We're not going to go out and outhit teams, though.'
 
What's a typical day for the skaters?  There is a 45-minute morning skate on
game days, and 10-to-noon workouts on offdays.  'The rest of the day we're
off, like senior citizens wondering where we're going to eat,' McInnis said
with a laugh.  'Otherwise we go to malls or go to movies.'
 
And of McInnis' future after the Olympics?  He has one year of college
eligibility left, and he's the property of the New York Islanders, having
been selected in the eighth round of the 1988 draft...right now...he's
leaning heavily toward the pros."
