Congratulations to the North Country Community College "Skating
Saints" and their Coach Tim Gerrish on their first National
Championships.

1st - North Country Community College
2nd - North Dakota State University
3rd - Canton College of Technology
4th - Community College of Rhode Island

A bit of N.J.C.A.A. history for those readers who are unfamiliar with
this level of hockey. The 1995 NJCAA Ice Hockey Championship marked the
23rd anniversary of its inception. Since 1972 when Rainy River
Community College of Minnesota hosted the original competition, seven
sites have been utilized and seven colleges have been named champion.
College of DuPage has been the most common site because of its location
but the U.S. Olympic Committee's sponsorship of the event had brought
the championships to the east for two years.
Canton College of Technology has been the most prolific champion with
twelve championships.
This year's championship continues with a three-game round robin
format in which each team plays every other team.

TEAM PROFILES: (Alphabetical)

Canton College of Technology - SUNY - Canton, NY

The team's record includes 18 Regional Ice Hockey Championships plus
a record 12 National Ice Hockey Champiosnhips from the first in 1973 to
the 12th in 1992 in Lake Placid, NY
The team has traveled every other year since 1976 to many European
Countries- Germany, Austria, Holland, France and Belgium to play 4-5
international games as well as learn the different countries cultures.
The Northmen play out of the Canton Pavilion and are coached by
Terry Martin.

North Country Community College - Saranac Lake, NY
Tim Gerrish NCCC's head coach has been leading the team since 1977.
He has compiled well over 200 wins in that period of time following
brief exposure as the Elmira junior varsity coach.
NCCC is the smallest unit of the State Unversity of New York, yet
has the largest geographical district in the State. With a 19-5-1
record, it has been one of the Saint finest seasons. NCCC has hosted
four other national hockey championships and several regional tourna-
ments. Again CONGRATULATIONS on winning the National Title.

North Dakota State University - Bottineau ND
The Lumberjacks are entering their twentieth season of junior college
hockey. In those twenty years, the Lumberjacks have been crowned the
national champions on two different occasions, the 1986 season and also
in 1991. They have been runners-up six different times.
The Lumberjacks will compete in Region 13, along with Itasca Community
College, Rainy River Community College and Hibbing Community College.
The team is coached by Gary Warren and he is in his eleventh year.

Community College of Rhode Island - Warwick RI
Head Coach John Fontaine only had two returnees from the 1993-94 hockey
team. Now 14-5 overall and had a nine game winning streak going into
the Regional playoffs. His team is small in numbers but they get the
job done.

THE ABOVE INFORMATION WAS TAKEN FROM THE PROGRAM THAT WAS PUBLISHED FORq
THE GAME!!!
