I agree with Greg Weintraub's recent analysis of RPICH, and it made
me think that if 16 teams were allowed into the NCAA tourney, then
for sure at least two teams from each conference would get into it.
Therefore, the argument about bumped teams for the sake of two bids
per conference would be obviated.  However, as was pointed out when
this thread started over the summer of '94 (?), there would still be
an argument over the 16/17 dividing line...
 
Anyway, has anyone heard anything about expanding the tourney field,
or is this just absolutely dead in light of the number of division I
programs (is it shrinking ala Kent State?), Title IX, costs...?
