Summary:

Union fell back into 11th place with a 5-2 loss to Yale. The game was
still tied at 2 with just over 3 minutes left when Curtis Millen
scored the game-winner for the Bulldogs.

The teams played a scoreless first period, and almost all of the
second. It was a battle of two good goaltenders, Todd Sullivan of
Yale and Trevor Koenig of Union. Yale finally scored when John Emmons
picked up a rebound and put it past Koenig in the final minute of the
second. Union came right back to tie early in the 3rd on Ryan
Thompson's first of the year. The teams traded power play goals
midway through the 3rd before Millen's game-winner on a big rebound
from an Andy Weidenbach shot.

The Dutchmen find themselves with a difficult task getting back into
the playoffs this year. Next weekend's games are at home against
Brown and Harvard before they finish up with games at Cornell and
Colgate. Next Saturday's game against Harvard will start at 4 PM as
part of Union's Bicentennial Celebration.

I also wanted to mention that it was an incredible night for hockey in
general in the Capital District. Three big games were played all
within 10 or 15 miles of each other. Union drew 2194, RPI drew 3680,
and the Albany River Rats of the AHL sold out the Knickerbocker Arena
for the first time with a crowd of 13941. That's almost 20,000 people
in the Capital District watching hockey.

The Dutchmen are now at 5-10-3 in the ECAC and 9-13-3 overall.
