Detroit regularly sells out the Great Lakes Invitational and draws well
for CCHA tournament games. It sells 20,000 tickets for any Michigan-Michigan
State match up.

But beyond that, consider:

Detroit sports the world's most valuable hockey team in the Red Wings.
Detroit sports a successful International Hockey League team in the Vipers.
Detroit sports a successful Ontario Hockey League team in the Jr Red Wings.
Detroit sports a Colonial Hockey League team.
(and if you want, you can count the Windsor Ontario Hockey League team)

Not to mention that Michigan sports seven D-I hockey programs, most loaded
with metro-Detroit talent.

I dunno guys. This is a pretty debatable thread.
