The UNH Wildcats defeated BU 4-2 Thursday night at the Cumberland County
Civic Center in Portland, Maine. Greg and I were unable to attend the game,
so we listened to the BU broadcast. I don't have all the penalty times, but
here goes:

                          1 2 3 Total
BU 0 1 1 2
UNH 2 1 1 4

SAVES
                                 1 2 3
                Total
Noble (BU) 15 17 2
                   34
Cavicchi (UNH) 9 7 18 34

1st period: UNH Muir (8) (Nickulas, Sullivan) 11:43
UNH Royal (13) (Mowers, Flinton) 16:32

2nd period: BU Prendergast (11) (Lachance, Joubert) 5:07
UNH Sullivan (8) (Nickulas, Boguniecki) 19:39

3rd period: BU Bates (Pandolfo, Drury) 5:28
                   UNH Sullivan (9) (unassisted) 12:24

As you can see from the saves, UNH dominated the first two periods and hung
on in the third for the win. According to the BU announcers, BU did a poor
job in the neutral and defensive zones on the first two periods, allowing
many good scoring chances for UNH. However, an apparent BU goal by Coleman
at 19:56 of the first period was disallowed despite the goal judge lighting
the red light and near-referee Frank Cole signalling it good. I never heard
why it was disallowed. Jack Parker argued long and loud, but to no avail.
Also, in the third period, 19 seconds after the second Sullivan goal, UNH
was penalized, and 7 seconds later received another penalty (Muir and Murray,
I don't know in what order). However, UNH killed off the 5 on 3. The only
other power play was a UNH opportunity late in the first period.

This is a huge win for the Wildcats, who already rank 6th in the RPICH
rankings, against a BU team that had averaged 53 shots in its last three
games, while holding the opposition to an average of 18. A win Saturday
night at Brown arena (fingers and toes crossed!!!) will catapult the 'Cats
into second place. Great job by the Sullivan, Nickulas, Boguniecki line and
by Cavicchi, who really came up big in the 5 on 3 in the third period.
