Not much to add...most interested parties either attended
or viewed it on Prime.

I am surprised at all of the anti-Marty Turco comments on
Hockey-L, though. Turco was obviously (IMO) the best goalie
at the GLI. He's played as well as anyone else in the CCHA,
save for maybe BGSU's Will Clarke. The majority of people
I've spoken to around Ann Arbor feel that Turco is better as
a freshman than Steve Shields ever was. Count me among
them. Btw...the four goals against in the GLI championship
game is the most (tied with other games) that Marty has ever
allowed (spanning 16 starts and 18 games played).

Fwiw...the GLI All-Tournament Team:

  G Marty Turco, Michigan
  D Steven Halko, Michigan
  D Blake Sloan, Michigan
  F Anson Carter, Michigan State
  F Matt Herr, Michigan
  F Brendan Morrison, Michigan

Morrison was also named MVP. Shades of the Mariucci, as I
felt that Michigan's Mike Legg should have been recognized
at forward...but in favor of who?

Fwiw II...former Michigan coach Al Renfrew (Red Berenson's
college coach) was interviewed on Prime between periods
of the UM-MTU game. Renfrew commented that Brendan
Morrison is the best player Berenson has had at Michigan.
A pretty strong statement...but me thinks it will prove to be an
accurate one, if it hasn't already.

Btw...there appears to be some scoring "errors" from the GLI
games as well. Mike Legg's second goal in the MTU game
was clearly from Warren Luhning and John Madden, but
every box I've seen to date lists Chris Fox and Madden.

As for adding unwarranted assists, it now seems that it would
be easier to make a list of schools that don't rather than schools
that do. :-(

[In all honesty, I have to say that this isn't a problem at Michigan.
But awarding them to the correct player(s) is. Kevin Hilton has
been shafted more than once this season. I'd say an assist is
incorrectly credited every 3 games or so.]
